Started for Madrona trip. 2.5mm needles were just too loose after completing the toe. Bought 2.25 Chiagaoo needles while there and started again. Much better! Adjusting the pattern to match my gauge and the yarn being slightly lighter. Plus, doing them toe-up.
used TDTU heel from @KnittingRN, and started rib in center of the rows after the heel turn. Turned Heel and finished gusset mid-march.
Finished the day before my Birthday Extravaganza so I could wear them to the beach!

unblocked gauge: 24st/4” x 17rows/2” blocked gauge: 23st/4” x 18rows/2” sizing due to gauge being looser (and liking the fabric), sizing down. the 42” size should make a 45.5” (262st5.75 in new gauge). Bust measurement is 44 1/2. Cast on for 42”. Knit anytime it has a distance, use 46” size. 12 increases for armhole…
two unicorn tails. hand balled the night of purchase. knit from the center out to make a headband/scarf that feather and fan’d out from an i-cord into leaf like motifs at the end. Used all of the yarn, with just the ends left for a braided bracelet.
knit turned hem flat, then joined in the round with helix knitting technique. steeked and made a steek sandwich for the side borders. border uses idea from the book “Crochet Kaleidoscope” motif #15.
My friend Randi declared she wanted to knit some Christmas things during the summer, and Alicia shared some of her holiday-themed yarn!
