Princess Advent-ure

My very first yarn advent is a Disney Princess-inspired set of 24 minis and a full skein for Christmas. This set was from Yarn Café Creations. It was a fun experience!

When finding a pattern, I wanted something that could use most of the minis, something that showed off all of the multicolored yarns, and garter stitch based so it wouldn’t roll. Cracked Glass by Carolyn Lisle seemed like a nice base. I increased the cast on to a third wider and double the height.

The cables aren’t quite as visible in every colorway, but it was a nice little blip to give interest.

When the over 8′ long scarf was complete, I used the full skein to make a wedge on one side making it more shawl-like! It tied the colors together. The full skein was Rapunzel.

I took a pic on my window sill every day of my countdown. I have a set of candles and a wooden snowflake that sit here! Each of the colorway names is either a lyric from a Disney princess movie song or a quote in a few cases. When I purchased it, I did think it was going to feature 24 different princesses! I do tend to be a Disney superfan and had to figure out why each color had the combo of colors it did.

And then I was able to choose a princess for my full skein. I picked Rapunzel because I do like Tangled, and the general colors from her look are very me. The full skein is a little more moody version of the colors, and I really do love it.

I took it as a fun challenge to find emojis to go with each name 🙂

I used about 15g of each of the 24 colors and all of the full skein.
